The most popular film distribution companied in Ireland include, E1 Entertainment, Network Ireland Television, Paramount pictures, Irish film board and Warner Bros.
E1 ENTERTAINMENT -
Eone are a Canadian record label and distribution company. It was originally founded in 1973 as a record label but by 2003, the company had expanded into home entertainment distribution.
Eone have distributed several very popular films, to name a few;
- The Babadook
- The DUFF
- Insidious
- The theory of everything
- The age of Adeline
E1's official website states, "For more than a decade, eOne has connected with the world’s best film partners to tell stories on big screens, small screens and what’s next in screens. Across North America, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific, eOne’s global network ensures that we find, create and offer more standout films in more territories."
E1 would be a good distributor for our film as it reaches wide audiences, and has a lot of credibility as they have published several very popular films.
PARAMOUNT PICTURES
Paramount Pictures Corporation (also known simply as Paramount) is an American film studio based in Hollywood, that has been a subsidiary of the American media conglomerate Viacom since 1994. Paramount is the fifth oldest surviving film studio in the world, the second oldest in the United States, and the sole member of the "Big Six", still located in the Hollywood.
Similarly to E1, Paramount would be very beneficial for our film as they are a very well known distribution company and hold a lot of credibility and power in the industry. This would ensure our film reached a wide audience.
IRISH FILM BOARD
The Irish Film Board is Ireland's national film agency and the major funding board. It was founded in 1980 and based in Galway. One of the IFB's most recent films distributed was Young Offenders which is under the comedy genre. Others include Once, Song of the Sea and The Guard. The IFB distributes a lot of shorts as well, including New Boy and Frankie.
This would be a good option for us as it would reach our target audiences, seeing as our film is set in Ireland and this is an Irish distribution company.
Network Ireland Television
Network Ireland Television is the premiere international distributor of short films and specialist TV content for broadcast. Founded in 1995, the Network Ireland Television is usually involved with niche market films, specifically short films, and their distribution. I think this would be the best option for us, as it appeals to our target audience and this company focus' on the niche audiences who view short films.
