CHARACTER PROFILE - MICK

Character Profile

Name: Mick
Age: 19/20
Gender: Male

Why did we choose the name Mick?

The name Mick is very masculine, and we choose it for similar reasons to Steve. We felt it reflected well on the type of "smick" character Hugh is playing.

Mick's Story

Mick is the much more caring character of the two male protagonists. His compassionate nature can be seen all throughout, despite the harsh, frustrated tone he uses towards Steve. He is determined to get to the bottom of what has caused Dawn to go into such a trance, and shows a lot of bravery in doing so. He leads the way and treats Dawn with respect the whole way through. He clearly cares about Dawn and wants to help her, this is where he differs from Steve. He is the one that realises the young woman is indeed Dawn, where Steve is much more hesitant to believe this. He shows a lot of bravery and takes control of the situation, after Steve discovers the ear piece, he is the one that takes it out. After seeing Dawn collapse to the floor, he shows great courage by putting the ear piece in his own ear, aware of the dangers this could bring to him. Sure enough, the ear piece has the same effect on Mick as it did on Dawn, and Mick instantly goes into a similar trance, much to Steve's confusion.

Casting Mick

Hugh is someone we are all friendly with and he has suitable acting experience, he played a role in our schools performance of Oklahoma earlier in the year. We felt he would be good at playing the role of Mick as he is very confident and we knew he wouldn't feel awkward or intimidated when filming. We all agreed he had the right look to play Mick, and could pass for 19/20. He already had clothing that we pictured Mick to be in, so this saved us from sourcing other clothing. With all this in mind, we decided Hugh would be the perfect character to play Mick.
