The film opens and one can immediately tell that this film is set in the future due to the technologies around the male protagonist. The main focus of this opening scene is the technology, and this theme follows the plot throughout. This is very typical of a Sci-Fi film as generally the technology carries the main plot line. There is little to no dialog in 'Ana', again this is to reinforce the importance of technology in the film, representing technology replacing human beings.
Regarding color, the colors stay very cool toned throughout, which is again typical of a Sci-Fi film as it often comes across very harsh, cold and eery, where warmer tones come across more happy, welcoming and bright.
The audio at the beginning of the film seems to be a radio broadcast, with a slight high pitched noise over the top, again not surprising in a sci fi film. When the male protagonist is deciding whether or not to go forward with what the machine is telling it to do, the audio is used to create suspense. Music is added to captivate the viewer, and it becomes clear there will be repercussion for his actions if he does not get this authorized. Whilst there is no dialog informing the audiences of this, the music does all the talking and this is a very powerful technique used often in sci-fi films. When he adds the widget onto the touchscreen pad, a very technological eery song is played in the background, keeping the viewer on the edge of their seats.
Special effects are also used all throughout 'Ana', this is very typical for a Sci-Fi film to create interest and show that this film is set in the future. Through the cinematography and the actors facial expressions, we can tell that something is off, hinting that we are heading towards the climax in the film which is how most sci fi plots are laid out.
The character goes down to investigate, and is stabbed with some sort of high tech piece of equiptment, he then falls to the ground and we see a close up of said equipment. This is done to show the relevance and importance of it. The male protaginist tries to make his make his way to some sort of switch, but fails and falls lifeless to the ground, before the colours turn to blacks and reds, and then complete darkness. Black and red are a symbol of evil, and the blackscreen leaves audiences of edge wanting to find out what is going to happen next. We are then shown the cctv footage of his empty office, which begins to glitch, this is creepy and sends a chill down audiences' spines.
The character regains consciousness and looks around him, we see his blurred vision, and get the feeling of urgency from the character while he has still not said anything. The music is very typically sci fi to add tension to the shots. His blurred vision begins to form a robot type thing, which is coming towards him. This battle between the good and evil is very typical of sci fi films also, however said robot simply passes the man, making its way out of the building towards a bright white light.
